San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are meeting at this hour to enact a local state of emergency for the Butte Fire.
The meeting started at 1:30pm at the Government Center in San Andreas. The Emergency Declaration being approved reads as follows:
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2015, the County of Calaveras found that, due to the Butte Fire, a condition of extreme peril to life and property does currently exist in Calaveras County during the period beginning on September 9, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, section 2.72.060 of the Calaveras County Code empowers the Board of Supervisors to proclaim the existence or threated existence of a local emergency when said county is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 2.72.010 et. seq. of the Calaveras County Code, the Director of Emergency Services has proclaimed a Local State of Emergency throughout Calaveras County; and,
WHEREAS, the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors shall be the Director of Emergency Services in Calaveras County; and,
WHEREAS, the Calaveras County Director of Emergency Services does believe that these conditions remain, the Board of Supervisors does desire to ratify the proclamation of the existence of a Local Emergency.
THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors does hereby ratify the September 10, 2015, Declaration of a Local Emergency in Calaveras County as a result of the September 9, 2015, wildland fire that has caused damage to public and private property; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County of Calaveras also requests the State of California to waive regulations that may hinder response and recovery efforts, to make available recovery assistance under the California Disaster Act, and to expedite access to federal resources and any other appropriate federal disaster relief programs; and,
BE IT FURTHER DECLARED AND ORDERED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Governor of California with a request that he proclaim the County of Calaveras be in a state of emergency; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDERED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the State Director of the Office of Emergency Services.
