Middletown, CA — While much of the focus in the Mother Lode is on the Butte Fire, the Valley Fire burning in Lake, Napa and Sonoma counties is now 67,000 acres and 15% contained.
At least one person has tragically died in the fire, and others are unaccounted for, according to state officals. 585 homes have been destroyed, and an additional 9,000 are threatened. The fire has already done extensive damage to the towns of Middletown and Cobb. 2,362 firefighters are currently on scene.
The fire ignited Saturday at 1:24pm. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
