Update: Vegetation Fire Near HWY 108 Contained

Update at 4:35pm:  Cal Fire Dispatch confirms that the three-acre vegetation fire has been contained. Additionally, dispatch reports that several homes in the immediate area were evacuated by Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies.

Update at 4:14pm:  Firefighters and Columbia aircraft are making progress on a three-acre vegetation fire in the Crystal Falls area of Sonora near Highway 108. The flames broke out along Oak Tree Lane off Crystal Falls Drive near Longeway Road in the area of the Outpost Gas Station. Cal Fire reports that one structure was threatened but that has since been mitigated. Additionally, two Cal Fire Air tankers have been released from the scene.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff says roads are closed due to this vegetation fire at Longeway Road at Spanish Grant Road to Crystal Falls Drive, and advises people to avoid the area.

Original Post at 4:05pm: Sonora, Ca — Firefighters and Columbia aircraft are heading to a vegetation fire in Sonora off Highway 108.

Cal Fire Dispatch reports the flames broke out along Longeway Road at the Crystal Falls Drive intersection in the area of the Outpost Gas station.  There is no word on size, rate of spread or whether there are any structures threatened.
