Butte Fire Reaches 93% Containment

San Andreas, CA — With over 1,700 firefighters still assigned to the Butte Fire, containment has now reached 93%.

Firefighters will continue to mop-up the fire over the weekend with full containment anticipated by next Thursday. The fire is holding at 70,868 acres. It has destroyed 475 homes, so evacuation centers remain open at the Jenny Lind Veterans Hall and the Glory Bound Fellowship in Burson.  Large animals are still being cared for at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds and Amador County Fairgrounds.   All evacuation advisories have been lifted and all roads are open.

Meanwhile, the Valley Fire burning in Lake, Napa and Sonoma counties is now 90% contained and 76,067 acres. That fire has destroyed 1,910 structures.
