Butte Fire Remains 95% Contained

Angels Camp, CA — CAL Fire reports this morning that the Butte Fire is still 70,868 acres and 95% contained.

475 homes and 343 outbuildings have been destroyed. At one point there were well over 4,000 firefighters assigned to the incident, but the number has now dropped to 493. All air resources have been released. There remains 28 engines, 16 crews, seven dozers and two water tenders. Full containment is anticipated this Thursday. The next Butte Fire community meeting is set for Wednesday at 6pm in the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall. It is open to the public.

The Valley Fire in Lake, Napa and Sonoma counties is up to 97% contained and 76,067 acres. 1,958 structures have been destroyed. Full containment is also expected later this week.
