New Details On Vehicle Accident That Sparked Calaveras Fire

Copperopolis, CA — The CHP has released new information about a vehicle accident that ignited a small vegetation fire on Pool Station Road earlier this week.

It happened Tuesday near the intersection of Riata Way. The CHP reports that 20-year-old Jamie Ruth Mayer of Campbell, driving a 2006 Subaru, was going into a curve and drifted off the roadway. She was traveling at approximately 30 mph. The Subaru then hit a PG&E power pole and knocked it to the ground. It ignited a vegetation fire that was extinguished by arriving fire crews. Mayer was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center by ambulance to treat minor injuries.

Pool Station Road was closed in both directions for approximately one hour.
