Update: 4:58 p.m.: CAL Fire Dispatch states that fire crews have managed to stop the forward spread rate of a ten to 12-acre vegetation fire near Copperopolis located north of Highway 4 in the 4300 block of Buckboard Drive. The CHP San Andreas unit, which had manned brief closures of some of Diamond 20 subdivision roads in the vicinity reports that they have been lifted. However, due to fire resources busily working in the area officers warn the public to please travel with caution there.
Update at 4:20 p.m.: CAL Fire reports crews are making good progress on a vegetation fire with flames currently holding steady at ten to 12 acres. Both ground and air resources continue to battle the blaze, which is located north of Highway 4 on the 4300 block of Buckboard Drive near Wagon Wheel Drive in the Copperopolis area. CAL Fire reports no structures are threatened.
Update at 3:50 p.m.: CAL Fire states that a vegetation fire that broke out earlier this hour in the 4300 block of Buckboard Drive near Wagon Wheel Drive just north of Highway 4 in Copperopolis is currently estimated at ten acres in size with a moderate rate of spread. Air and ground resources continue to attack the blaze. There is no word yet on whether any structures are involved or threatened.
Original Post 3:27 p.m.: Copperopolis, CA — Firefighters and Columbia airbase resources are heading to a reported vegetation fire in the Copperopolis area.
CAL Fire reports that flames broke out in the 4300 block of Buckboard and Wagon Wheel drives near Clover Creek. There is not yet any word on size, rate of spread or whether any structures are threatened. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the newscenter.
