Update 5:30 p.m.: A vegetation fire near New Melones remains under investigation. CAL Fire calls the blaze, which ignited along Shetland Court near Dunn Road in Angels Camp, officially contained at just under two acres.
Update at 2:36 p.m.: CAL Fire reports that resources remain on the scene following the containment of a vegetation fire near New Melones reservoir along Shetland Court near Dunn Road. The size of the fire is being estimated as between two and three acres.
Update at 11:40am: The earlier referenced vegetation fire in Amador County was stopped at around three acres.
Update at 11:20am: CAL Fire reports that progress has been made working to extinguish a vegetation fire near New Melones. The fire is situated along Shetland Court near Dunn Road. All of the air resources have now been released from the incident as they were able to stop the forward rate of spread. The latest estimate from CAL Fire is that the blaze is around two acres.
CAL Fire does note that the air resources are now headed to Amador County to assist with a new vegetation fire in the area of Highway 88. It is being referred to as the Valley Fire. No further details are immediately available.
Original story at 10:30am: Calaveras County, CA — Air and ground resources are responding to a vegetation fire in Calaveras County.
The fire is east of Copperopolis and south of Angels Camp, near New Melones. The fire is reportedly near the intersection of Shetland Court and Dunn Road. Early indications are that it is around 2-3 acres. Expect quite a little activity in the area. There are immediate reports of homes or structures in danger.
