Update 6:45 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire has been contained at a 1/2 acre. Crews will remain on scene mopping up and checking for hot spots. No cause has been determined and the fire is under investigation.
Update at 6:30 p.m.: Cal Fire dispatch reports the blaze is a 1/2 acres but crews are getting a handle on the flames as the air tankers have been called off the scene and just air attack remains in the skies. On the ground four engines and a dozer continue to battle the blaze. No structures are threatened.
Original post at 6 p.m.: Avery, CA — Cal Fire ground and air resources are responding to several calls reporting white smoke in the skies between Avery and Arnold.
Cal Fire dispatch maps the fire off Highway 4 along Moran and Love Creek roads. Cal Fire dispatch says a caller reported a large white plume of smoke rising from that area. There is no word on the size of the fire or the flame’s rate of spread or if any structures are threatened. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the news center.
