Update at 7:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire is contained at a 1/2 acre. Two engines and a hand crew will remain on scene mopping up. There is no word on what sparked the blaze but it is under investigation.
Original post at 7:15 p.m.: Avery, CA — Ground and air crews are heading to a vegetation fire close to a fire that was just contained in between Avery and Arnold.
The new blaze is just north in the 1570 block of east Thunderbolt Drive between Highway 4 and Moran Road. Cal Fire reports it is a ½ acre in size and while there is no immediate threat to structures in the area there are homes nearby that crews are watching. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the news center.
