Update: Vegetation Fire Near Columbia Contained

Update at 1:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire is contained at a half acre.

Update at 1:05 p.m.: Crews are getting a handle on the blaze that broke out in the 13000 block of Jenny Lind Road near Borden and Big Hill roads in the Columbia area.  Cal Fire reports that the flame’s forward rate of spread has been stopped at a quarter acre. Initially, one structure, a home, was threatened but that has since been mitigated. Aircraft have been released from the scene. What sparked the blaze is under investigation.

Original post at 12:45 p.m.: Ground and air resources are heading to a vegetation fire in Tuolumne County.

Cal Fire reports the flames broke out in the 13000 block of Jenny Lind Road near Borden and Big Hill roads in the Columbia area.  There fire is a quarter acre in size. There is no word on the flame’s rate of spread or whether any structures area threatened. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the news center.
