Moccasin, CA – Firefighters make progress overnight as the Marshes Fire’s containment grows to 75 percent while the acreage remains steady at 1080.
Cal Fire expects to have full containment of the fire burning near Moccasin by next week. Spokesperson Nancy Longmore states, “We are on target for full containment by October 3, which is Monday.” Longmore adds that crews will continue mop up throughout Saturday and work on fire line rehab to minimize erosion.
All roadways are open in the fire area. Click here to read an earlier story about the cause of the fire, which ignited at 12:20pm this past Monday along Highway 49 and Marshes Flat Road.
