Update: Fire Near Busy Sonora Intersection Contained

Update at 2:35 p.m.: Cal Fire reports crews have contained a 100 x 100 foot fire along Highway 108.  The flames broke out just after 2 p.m. Crews arrived on the scene to find the flames burning in a median along the highway on ramp at the Mono Way intersection near Sonora Ford. The flames were put out within minutes. No structures were threatened. What sparked the blaze is under investigation, according to Cal Fire.

Original post at 2:18 p.m.: Sonora, CA — Firefighters are heading to a vegetation fire in Sonora.

Cal Fire reports the flames ignited along the Highway 108 on ramp at the Mono Way intersection by Sonora Ford. There is no word on the fire’s size, the flame’s rate of spread or whether any structures are threatened. Traffic is getting backed up along Mono Way so motorists may want to find an alternative route. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the news center.
