CAL Fire To Suspend Burn Ban On Friday

Sonora, CA — Effective Friday at 8am, burning will be allowed within the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras jurisdiction.

However, it must be a permissive burn day and you will need a valid burn permit. Cooler temperatures have helped diminish the threat of wildfire in the region. CAL Fire does stress that California remains in a state of drought, so you still need to use extreme caution when burning piles. Only dry, natural vegetative material, such as leaves, pine needles and tree trimmings can be burned. You cannot burn trash, painted wood or other debris. Piles should be no larger than four ft. in diameter and height. You also need to clear 10 ft. diameter, down to bare soil, around the piles. Always have a shovel and water source nearby.

Those needing a burn permit can stop by any CAL Fire station.
