Sonora, CA — A big rig truck caught on fire early this morning on Stockton Road next to the lower SaveMart.
The Sonora Fire Department received a call at 3:05am that a passenger vehicle was reportedly on fire, but when initial responders arrived, they learned that it was actually a commercial tractor-trailer.
Fire Chief Aimee New elaborates that the front tractor portion was on fire, adding, “(Sonora Fire Department) Engine 751 was able to extinguish the fire with assistance from one other agency. All other resources were canceled.”
It is unknown what ignited the fire. Chief New says the cause is still “under investigation.”
