Update: Fire In Calaveras County

Update at 6:45 p.m.: Firefighters have stopped the forward spread of the Fullen Fire that ignited in some grass near Dolores Lane near Avery Sheep Ranch and Fullen roads, north of Highway 4 and south of Indian Creek Road in the Sheep Ranch area. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore updates that the blaze is now 4 acres, up from half an acre, and no structures are threatened. Crews working towards full containment and mopping up into the night. What caused the fire is under investigation.

Original post at 5:20 p.m.; Avery, CA — Fire resources are working on a blaze dubbed the “Fullen Fire” in the Sheep Ranch area of Calaveras County.

The blaze broke out in the grass on a hill along Dolores Lane near Avery Sheep Ranch and Fullen roads, north of Highway 4. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports it is a half acre in size and burning in grass and brush. There is no word as to whether any structures are threatened. We’ll pass along more information when it comes into the newsroom.
