Update: Jupiter Fire Located In Wilderness Of Stanislaus National Forest

Update at 12:10pm: Crews have gained containment on the Jupiter Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest. All resources have been released except two engines, and a water tender, according to Forest Service Spokesperson Ben Cossel. Mop-up continues. The cause of the fire is not immediately known.

Original story posted at 7:59am: Tuolumne County, CA — Numerous resources from the US Forest Service, and CAL Fire, are responding to a vegetation fire this morning that has been located in an isolated wilderness region between Highways 108 and 4

Forest Service Spokesperson Ben Cossel says it is being referred to as the “Jupiter Fire.”

It is located in the vicinity of Forest Road 3N13 and Italian Bar Road, outside the unincorporated community of Jupiter.

Cossel reports that the fire is approximately 30 feet by 100 feet, and it is burning in Manzanita and logs. He notes that no structures are immediately threatened.

There is a heavy response of resources. Cossel adds, “Responding to the incident is Engine 6333, Battalion Chief 11, Water Tender 304, Angeles National Forest Water Tender 222, Engine 312, Engine 31, Engine 314, Engine 332. Additionally, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is responding with four engines, two water tenders and one hand crew. Captain 314, Andy Bellar-Mariscal is assuming incident command.
