90-Percent Containment Reached On Detwiler Fire

Mariposa, CA — An estimated 2,000 firefighters continue to work towards reaching full containment on the 81,826 acre Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County.

A big positive is that all remaining Detwiler Fire evacuation advisories were lifted yesterday afternoon. CAL Fire is hoping to reach full containment by this coming Saturday. The fire ignited on July 16 at 3:56pm on Detwiler Road near Hunters Valley Road, approximately two miles east of Lake McClure. 63 homes were destroyed, 67 outbuildings and one commercial building.

There are 144 engines still on scene, 53 crews, two helicopters, seven dozers and 32 water tenders. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
