Midpines, CA — Columbia aircraft are helping to battle a vegetation fire in the Midpines area off Highway 49 in Mariposa County.
CAL Fire reports the flames broke out along East Whitlock and Cory Pines roads just after 4 p.m. Crews are getting a handle on the quarter acre fire as the forward rate of spread has been stopped, according to CAL Fire dispatch. No structures were threatened and what sparked the blaze is under investigation. Crews will continue to work towards full containment and mopping up for the next several hours with aircraft to be released shortly, according to CAL Fire dispatch.
