Update: Overnight Fire In Copperopolis Contained

Update at 9:15 a.m.: The Pyle Fire that ignited in the Copperopolis area of Calaveras County just after midnight last night has been contained, and it was not a flare-up from the Aero Fire. CAL Fire reports that the flames were spreading at a slow rate on O’Brynes Ferry Road near Pyle Road. Firefighters were able to stop the forward spread within 20 minutes of arriving on the scene.CAL Fire Spokesperson Emily Kilgore released this statement regarding the cause, “Contrary to rumors floating through the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, the Pyle Fire was NOT associated with or a rekindling of the previous Aero Fire despite its proximity to the Aero Fire. Investigators have determined the Pyle Fire to be the result of a vehicle accident, with subsequent vehicle fire that spread to vegetation, burning 3.8 acres.”

Original post at 6:08 a.m.: Copperopolis, CA – Fire crews remain on the scene of a vegetation fire dubbed the Pyle Fire by CAL Fire in the Copperopolis area of Calaveras County.

CAL Fire reports that the flames were spreading at a slow rate on O’Brynes Ferry Road near Pyle Road. Firefighters were able to stop the forward spread at 1.25 acres within 20 minutes of arriving on the scene.

Crews are continuing to work towards full containment while mopping up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
