CAL Fire Asks Public To ‘Think Twice’

Tuolumne County, CA – The CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit is asking the public to reconsider making repairs or maintenance to property in the wake of several close fire calls.

“Over the last few days, CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Law Enforcement Officers have made contact with several community members trying to do the right thing by conducting vegetation maintenance and/or repairs to their property. Unfortunately, this is the wrong and very dangerous time for these actions,” stated fire officials, adding, “Fortunately, those who were contacted about a fire’s potential, should their activities continue, did not cause an ignition.”

Local fire officials are encouraging everyone to “THINK TWICE” before taking any actions outdoors, from vehicle maintenance to equipment use and recreational activities, as a single spark can cause a deadly and destructive wildfire. They ask the public to consider the need for the work to determine if the activity can wait for another time or day when temperatures are cool and vegetation is not as volatile.
