Body Found In Columbia House Fire Identified

Columbia, CA – Tuolumne County Sheriff’s officials have identified the deceased in the Labor Day fatal house fire in Columbia.

The deceased is 71-year-old Brent Kenneth Shock. Sheriff’s officials had reported that they were trying to identify the remains through dental records. Instead, they had to turn to DNA analysts for identification, which takes longer.

As we earlier reported, on August 31st at 6:30 p.m., a blaze erupted in a mobile home in the 23000 block of Italian Bar Road near Columbia State Park. The single-wide mobile home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene. Crews were able to knock down the fire in about an hour and that is when they discovered the body inside.

The flames spread to nearby vegetation but were quickly extinguished by firefighters at a small spot fire. Ground resources also on the scene included CAL Fire TCU, Sonora Fire, Murphys Fire, Tuolumne County Ambulance, and Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.
