Completing Past Prescribed Burns In Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties

San Andreas – About 220 acres will be burned next week as CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit crews will be completing hazardous fuel reduction burning in various locations of Calaveras and Tuolumne counties for the next two weeks.

Ignition is slated for Monday, October 14th, and will run through Friday, October 25th, 2024, beginning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. The burning is expected to last 6 to 8 hours each day if conditions are favorable.

“The goal of each prescribed burn is to reduce available fuels to slow the rate and spread of potential wildfires and burn the reproduction of the brush that has been removed,” according to fire officials. “The public may see smoke or fire in these areas during these times.”

The burn will be monitored, with patrols taking place in the ignited area until declared out. CAL Fire listed these areas where the burning will take place:
