Update: Fire In Sonora Stopped

Update at 3:20 p.m.: CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports the Hope Fire’s forward rate of spread has been stopped at under an acre, with the flames moving at a slow rate of spread and no threat to structures. The CHP reports officers have reopened the section of Stockton Road between Ponderosa Lane and the highway off-ramp that has been closed for about a half hour. Crews will remain on scene, working towards full containment and then mopping up. What ignited the blaze is under investigation.

Original post at 2:50 p.m.: Sonora, CA — Air and ground resources are heading to a vegetation fire on Stockton Road in Sonora.

The image box photo of a fire near Highway 108 shows a plume of smoke. Cal Fire has named it the “Hope Fire.” No information is available on the fire’s activity, size, or whether any structures are threatened. The CHP is closing the roadway between Ponderosa Lane and the highway off-ramp. An update will be provided as soon as new information is available in the newsroom.
