Update at 6:10 p.m.: CAL Fire report the fire was contained at two acres. The blaze broke out in the 21400 block of North Cord Road in the Wallace area of Calaveras County. The flame’s forward rate of spread was stopped in about a half hour. All the aircraft have returned to the Columbia base. Ground crews will remain on scene mopping up and checking on hotspots for the next hour.
Original post at 5:20 p.m.: Calaveras County, CA — Air and ground resources are battling a vegetation fire in Calaveras County near Camanche Reservoir.
CAL Fire reports that the flames are near East Acampo Road in the Wallace area. The fire is about an acre in size and moving at a moderate rate of spread. There is no word as to whether any structures are threatened. More details will be posted as soon as more information comes into the newsroom.
