Sonora, CA — The largest fire burning in California is the County Fire which has torched 70,000 acres and is 5-percent contained. It is burning in portions of Napa and Yolo counties. Much of the San Francisco Bay Area has been blanketed in smoke over the past couple of days and the winds have been easterly.
The second most significant fire burning is the Pawnee Fire in Lake County which has burned 14,900 acres and it is 80-percent contained. In Siskiyou County the Petersburg Fire is 350 acres and 25-percent contained. In Tehama County the Lane Fire is 3,716 acres and 97-percent contained. In Trinity County the Flat Fire is 300 acres and 75-percent contained. In Shasta County the Creek Fire is 1,678 acres and 97-percent contained.
The 11,789 acre Waverly Fire near Linden was fully contained earlier this week.
