Update at 1:52 p.m.: CAL Fire reports that this blaze was extinguished at a 50′ x 50′ spot minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene. What ignited the fire is under investigation.
Original post at 12:28 p.m.: Wallace, CA — Air and ground resources are heading to a reported vegetation fire in Calaveras County.
The flames broke out in the 9600 block of Whalen Road near Southworth Road and north of Highway 12. Currently, there are no details available regarding the fire’s size, the rate of spread of the flames, or whether any structures are threatened. An update will be provided as soon as new information becomes available in the newsroom.
