500 Acre Prescribed Burn Planned Near Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA — Plan to notice smoke next week west of Angels Camp near the Fowler Peak Lookout.

CAL Fire reports that a 500 acre prescribed burn is scheduled to run from Tuesday, October 16 through Friday October 19. The fire will be ignited along the Bear Mountain Shaded Fuel Break and Whittle Vegetation Management Plan burn site. Besides reducing the risk of wildfire in that region, the burn will also allow for firefighters to gain training hours. Resources assigned will be 11 engines, one water tender, a bulldozer, two hand crews and a helicopter.

Resources will remain on seen through the end of the week to ensure that the fire is completely controlled before turning it over to the landowners.
