Spike In Whiskey Fire Containment

Mountain Ranch, CA — The Whiskey Fire burning in Calaveras County is holding at 35 acres and it is now 80-percent contained.

CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that winds overnight were lighter than anticipated, and that allowed crews to make good progress building containment lines. Firefighters will remain on scene throughout today and possibly overnight and into tomorrow. What ignited the fire still remains under investigation. It broke out yesterday morning in Mountain Ranch near the intersection of Whiskey Slide Road and Jesus Maria Road.
