The Whiskey Fire Is Contained

Mountain Ranch, CA – The Whiskey Fire burning in the Mountain Ranch area of Calaveras County is fully contained, but crews will still be seen in the area.

CAL Fire reports that the fire’s size held steady at 35 acres. The public may still see firefighters in the burn scar, as spokesperson Lindy Shoff explains that crews will continue to patrol the area to check for flare ups due to windy conditions forecasted for the next several days.

The flames broke out Monday morning near Whiskey Slide and Jesus Maria roads. Shoff adds that fire investigators are still trying to determine what ignited the blaze as it remains under investigation. No structures were threatened in the fire.
