Stanislaus National Forest, CA – Mother Lode residents may be seeing smoke most notably in Bear Mountain, but don’t be alarmed Stanislaus National Forest Officials say it’s a prescribed burn. Crews lit up 10 acres of vegetation today. As we reported earlier in April, crews will be burning 260 acres in all.

The Bear Mountain Prescribed Burn will be 22 miles east of Groveland on Forest Road 1S03, in the vicinity of Ackerson and Bear Mountain. The burn will run until late May. Forest Service officials say the burning will be monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines. The exact dates that crews will burn will depend on weather and air quality conditions. Smoke will be visible during certain periods.
