Copperopolis, CA — A fire started yesterday afternoon in Copperopolis that spread to around 95 acres of vegetation.
CAL Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams reports that the cause is unknown. The fire was contained overnight, and it is near the area of Highway 4 and Horseshoe Road. At one point yesterday the CHP was directing traffic on Highway 4 due to the smoke. The fire was attacked from the air and ground. Crews remain on scene this morning for mop-up operations.
