Ramsey Fire 80% Contained

Dorrington, CA — The Ramsey Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest is now 80% contained and 1, 155 acres.  Fire Officials say crews will continue with fire suppression repair objectives today. That objective is to minimize the potential for use of fire lines as future trails or confusion regarding proper route, and minimizing erosion and sediment movement on the fire line. They say crews will also continued with patrolling established fire lines and mopping-up hot spots remaining in the interior of the fire.  Forest Officials report steep terrain, heavy fuels adjacent to the line and limited access along the Stanislaus River continue to be concern for firefighters. They says crews will be released today to help support other incidents in the state.

Highway 4 is open. Forest Officials ask travelers to please use caution while driving along Highway as safety of firefighters is a primary concern as mop-up continues along the edge of the Highway. Forest Officials say fire suppression repair will continue on all Divisions. They say weekend recreation use and the opening of bow season for deer has caused heavy amounts of traffic along the highway. Forest Officials say this traffic has impacted the fire suppression repair and chipping operation. They say chipping of materials along HWY 4 will continue on Monday morning. 

 All recreational lakes, trails and campgrounds are open at this time.
