Yosemite, CA – The Associated Press reports a park spokesman says California public health officials want to survey workers at Yosemite National Park for the Hantavirus.
The AP says they want to check whether employees have been exposed to the deadly mice-borne virus. There is no word on how many workers that will include or when they plan on doing the possible testing.
Nine people who spent time at the park this summer have been infected with the virus. Eight of the cases are linked to the Curry Village “Signature Tent Cabins” and one is connected to the Tuolumne Meadows area.
Three people have died from the illness. All of them stayed in the Curry Village tents. Health Officials won’t release the names of those victims, but say one is a 36 year-old man from Alameda County, a 45 year-old man from Pennsylvania and a person from West Virginia.
