Students Return To Class

Sonora, CA — A majority of the students in the Mother Lode went back to school today.

Schools will have a clearer picture later this month regarding what the overall enrollment figures will look like. So far, it appears that the numbers are up slightly at Sonora High School. Principal Todd Dearden says around 1150 students are currently signed up for classes, compared to 1130 last year.

There are some new offerings this year at the High School. Dearden states, “We’re very excited about our ROP Wildland fire class, which takes care of all the fire prerequisites for the fire program at Columbia College. We also have an ROP Emergency First Responder course, and we’ve brought back ROP Auto.”

Dearden says everything has been going smoothly on the first day of class. School also started today at Don Pedro and Tioga High. Students return to Summerville High School on Thursday. For a complete rundown of school start dates click here.
