CAL Fire Transitioning

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of CAL Fire is moving into “Winter Preparedness” mode.

Effective today, burning is allowed 24 hours a day on “permissive burn days,” as deemed by Air Pollution Control District. CAL Fire burn permits will not be required until May 1st of next year. Landowners could still be held liable if a burn project escapes their control.

Officials say now is good time to clear 100 ft. of defensible space around structures.
