San Andreas, CA — In the race for District Three Calaveras County Supervisor, incumbent Merita Callaway has moved over the 50 percent threshold and may not have to face a runoff in November.
When the results were tabulated Tuesday evening, Callaway had 49.8 percent and second place challenger Bill McManus had 44 percent.
After two days of processing absentee ballots, numbers from the Calaveras Elections Office show that Callaway has stretched her lead to 50.41 percent.
Callaway has 979 votes, McManus 850 and Mary Boblet 112.
The Elections Office still has around 3,500 absentee ballots to process countywide, so everything remains subject to change.
In the race for Sheriff, Gary Kuntz now has 51.8 percent (5,319) and Ed Ballard has 47.9 percent (4,916).
