Update: Vegetation Fire In Jenny Lind Area

Update at 1:20 p.m.: CAL Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff relays the fire was contained at about four acres. She adds that a prevention crew is on the scene actively trying to determine what sparked the blaze while ground crews continue to mop up and check for hotspots.

Update at 12:55 p.m.: Crews are making progress on a vegetation fire in the 8000 block of Ospital Road in the Jenny Lind area of Calaveras County .

CAL Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff tells Clarke Broadcasting that the fire’s forward progress has been stopped at an acre in size. All aircraft and all but three engines of incoming resources have been called off, according to Shoff.

No structures were threatened and what sparked the blaze is under investigation. Crews will remain on scene for the next hour mopping up and checking for hotspots.

Update at 12:45 p.m.: CAL Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff reports that the fire is one acre in size and the flames are moving at a slow rate of spread. She adds that no structures are threatened.

Original post at 12:40 p.m.: Jenny Lind, CA — CAL Fire reports that air and ground crews are battling a vegetation fire in the Jenny Lind area of Calaveras County.

The fire is in the 8000 block of Ospital Road, between Southworth and Miles roads. It is an acre in size and moving at a slow rate of spread. No structures are currently threatened. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the newsroom.
