Update: Vegetation Fire Near Calaveras County Line

Update at 1:40 p.m.: Columbia air and local ground crews have assisted in extinguishing a vegetation fire on Highway 26 near North Shelley Road, between Jenny Lind and Linden, just inside the San Joaquin and Calaveras County line. CAL Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff tells Clarke Broadcasting the blaze was contained at 4 acres and the cause is under investigation. A small ground crew will remain on scene mopping up for the next couple of hours.

Update at 1:30 p.m.: CAL Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff tells Clarke Broadcasting that the fire is about an acre in size. The flames broke out just before 1 p.m. on Highway 26 near North Shelley Road, between Jenny Lind and Linden, just inside the San Joaquin and Calaveras County line.
