Columbia, CA — Officials are working on a long term plan designed to make it easier to travel around Columbia and to be prepared for future growth.
The Tuolumne County Transportation Council has hired the Sacramento firm Stantec to lead the effort in creating a Columbia Circulation Improvement Plan.
“The plan will look at how we can enhance land uses, circulation and transportation in the community of Columbia,” says Arlan Nickel, Stantec Senior Planning Manager. “Some of the concepts that have been discussed include bettering the connectivity for bicyclists and pedestrians, and enhancing the transit routes by adding additional stops.”
Darin Grossi, Deputy Director of the Tuolumne County Transportation Council adds that his agency will use the priorities set in this plan as guide when applying for state and federal grants for infrastructure projects.
The Columbia Circulation Improvement Plan is expected to be completed by November. A community meeting designed to gather input is scheduled for January 29 at 6:30pm at Columbia Elementary School.
