Equipment Use Sparks Vegetation Fire

Rancho Calaveras, CA — What sparked the Lake View Fire this afternoon has been determined.

As we reported earlier here, the flames broke out in grass in the noon hour in the 4900 block of Lake View Road near Lake Beth Road in the Rancho Calaveras region. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore advises it could have been prevented, stating, “Investigators found that the Lake View Fire was started by a push behind string trimmer, which is gas powered equipment.” She advises, “We encourage people to use that equipment before 10 a.m., when the humidity is higher.”

Kilgore reports this is the second fire this year started from string trimmer use after 10 am. The blaze was contained at under an acre.
