Clements, CA — CAL Fire has released a cause for the “Brandt Fire.”
It ignited in some grass around 1:30 p.m., as earlier reported here, along Brandt and North Clements roads is in the Clements area, west of Jenny Lind, just inside the San Joaquin County Line. It was contained at 15 acres in about an hour and a half. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports details, “Investigators have determined that the Brandt Fire was caused by a vehicle malfunction. In this case, the vehicle’s malfunction created some kind of spark.” She advises, “We encourage the public to make sure their vehicle is properly maintained. Not only will that protect your investment, but it will also provide for fire safety.”
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
