Company dancers from Studio 4 Dance Theater and dancers from Studio 4 School of Dance are preparing once again to delight audiences with this year’s Holiday Showcase 2025, a vibrant celebration of classic jazz, contemporary, Broadway jazz, and timeless ballet. Studio 4 Dance Theater (S4DT) and Studio 4 School of Dance (S4SD) have long been known for bringing exceptional performing arts experiences to Calaveras County, and this year’s production continues that tradition with audience-favorite Nutcracker pieces and innovative new choreography.
A highlight of the 2025 Holiday Showcase is the leadership of senior dancers who are contributing original choreography to Act II. Abby Fuqua leads the cast as this year’s stunning Sugar Plum Fairy, while also choreographing the spirited Peppermint Stick. Gracie Strand, who performs as the elegant Dew Drop Fairy in the Waltz of the Flowers, brings her creative vision to Spanish Chocolate. Ballet teacher and alumna of S4DT Ruby Eustis-Smith choreographs the energetic Chinese Tea Cookies and the lively Reed Flutes. Director Sarah Long contributes her own unique choreography to the exotic Arabian Spices. The Waltz of Flowers has a new flair featuring all-new costumes and choreography by Artistic Director Tammie Lee.
“We are so proud of our dancers stepping into creative roles this season,” said Artistic Director Tammie Lee. “Their dedication and artistry shine in every piece they choreograph, and it’s exciting to share their talent with the community.”
Act I features dynamic jazz and beautiful contemporary works choreographed by our talented Director Sarah Long, set to holiday selections including Oh Santa!, The Prayer, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, 3 Ships, and Ghost of a King. Act II brings the enchantment of the Nutcracker to the Bret Harte Theater stage with the Sugar Plum Solo, Spanish Chocolate with lead dancer Julia Beeken, Arabian Spices, Chinese Tea Cookies, Peppermint Stick with lead dancer Devon Barnet, Reed Flutes with lead dancer Scarlett Kelsey, The Gingersnaps, and Waltz of the Flowers.
The Holiday Showcase is supported each year by generous community members, parent volunteers, and donors who help elevate the production’s magic for dancers and audiences alike. This production would not be possible without the generous grant from the Wintercreek Foundation.
