Jamestown Elementary
Jamestown Elementary is a K-8 rural California public school district in Tuolumne County. All nine public elementary schools in Tuolumne County are separate districts except the Big Oak Flat School District to the southeast of the Jamestown District as it includes Tenaya Elementary and Tioga High students in Groveland and Don Pedro High School in La Grange. The Jamestown Elementary school district boundary includes homes to the southwest of New Melones Reservoir and west of the Sonora Elementary school district. Most of the homes and properties bordering New Melones are in the more northern Columbia School District despite having the Jamestown zip code, 95327, and being located closer to the Jamestown School. Across the Tuolumne border from Jamestown is Copperopolis Elementary in Calaveras County, and further west the Knights Ferry Elementary School District. Roberts Ferry Elementary in Waterford includes the community of La Grange in Stanislaus County, while other homes around Lake Don Pedro are in the Jamestown District and Big Oak Flat Districts. Over toward Coulterville students are in the Mariposa County School District.
Notable Jamestown District Boundaries in Neighborhoods
Off Rawhide Road all the Peppermint Creek area homes are in Jamestown School District but the homes down in the valley and the big turn of Rawhide Road in the Columbia Elementary School District with the homes bordering New Melones in French Flat and all of Tuttletown off of Highway 49 to the county border which is the Stanislaus River and an arm of the New Melones Lake created by the Dam.
Off Golf Links Road only the homes away from Highway 108 off North Drive, Martha Lane and Outlook Drive are in the Sonora Elementary School District, the rest in that area are in Jamestown. Across HWY 108 all of Mill Villa is in Jamestown District.
Most of the homes off Campo Seco near Lime Kiln Road are in the Sonora District. The large farmland parcels off Campo Seco Road are in the Jamestown District and everything west from there up to the western border of Tuolumne County is also the Jamestown District although it is very sparsely populated with many parcels averaging 640 acres.
Curtis Creek, Sullivan Creek and Don Pedro Reservoir form the southern border of the Jamestown school district. The river cuts off properties at the Jacksonville Road Bridge nearly 7 miles before it joins Highway 120 including the area in the Big Oak Flat district. Algerine Road at Curtis Creek and the Algerine area is in the Sonora District.
The group of homes off Jacksonville Road on the map labeled as the old gold mining towns of Quartz, Stent, Chinese Camp and Montezuma are in the Jamestown District.
The Lake Don Pedro Owners Association with over 3,500 members is in the southwestern corner of Tuolumne County. Although Don Pedro Lake is completely within Tuolumne’s borders some of the Association members around the lake are in Mariposa county. Lake Don Pedro Elementary School with about 200 students is in the Mariposa school district, not to be confused with the larger Don Pedro Elementary School in Ceres. Mariposa County has one district with 8 school sites and about 1,700 students. Within the borders of Tuolumne County and the Big Oak Flat District is Don Pedro High School with under 40 students.
