Modesto Woman Struck By Lightning

Modesto, CA — A 53-year-old Modesto woman remains in critical condition after being struck by lightning.
Peggy Lee Montijo was hit by a bolt of lightning yesterday as she walked down a Modesto street as a powerful thunderstorm rolled through the city.
Yesterday´s storms caused problems from the Bay Area to Kern County. About 16,000 P-G-and-E customers lost power as thunderstorms in San Mateo County and San Francisco knocked out electrical service.
Lightning strikes are also being blamed for starting a wildfire that scorched about 1800 acres in the foothills northeast of Bakersfield.
Firefighters have the blaze fully contained, but about 90 firefighters remain on the scene watching for hot spots.
