Sonora Aerospace Pioneer Passes Away

Sonora, CA — A prominent pioneer in the aerospace industry has died at his Sonora home.

Friends and family members of Vernon Preston Grove gathered for a memorial service Saturday.

Family members say Mr. Grove, also known as “Pres” died Tuesday at the age of 86.

Grove graduated from the Kansas State University school of engineering just before World War 2.

Grove then went on to work on engineering and design teams for Boeing and Lockheed. He also served in the 101st Airborne division of the United States Army, and was a member of the Judge Advocate General´s Office under the command of General Douglas MacArthur.

Grove is survived by his wife Barbara of Sonora, two daughters and five sons, along with 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
