Driver Thought He Could Make It
The jack-knifed big rig in the north downtown Sonora area has been moved out of the way.
Elkin Street was blocked for awhile around 10:30 a.m. this morning after a big rig and a 48-foot-long trailer got stuck trying to make a turn on the steep narrow street in the north end of town between N. Stewart and N.Shepherd streets.
Sonora Police say the truck driver had just dropped off his load at a downtown furniture store and was trying to get turned around.
In the process, the truck damaged a street sign and did some minor property damage to front yards on the street.
Vic´s Towing was called in and hooked a cable up to the truck. Once straighten out, they and the police helped the truck and trailer back down Elkin Street.
No word why the driver was up in that area of the downtown with such a long trailer.
