Police Found Peterson Home “Suspicious”

Sponsored by:

Modesto police thought the scene at Scott Peterson´s home was suspicious and summoned a detective with hours of responding to the report that his wife Laci was missing.

That´s according to testimony today from a Modesto Police Sergeant Byron Duerfeldt who testified he received a missing person report at about 6:00 in the evening on December 24th, 2002.

Upon arriving at the Peterson home, he says that based on what other officers at the scene told him, he felt it was necessary to have a detective respond.

He was stopped from explaining further because he´s not allowed to testify about exactly what the others told him, but he made it clear their observations led him to call the detective.

Prosecutors allege Peterson killed his wife in their Modesto home, then dumped her body from his small boat on San Francisco Bay.

His attorneys have speculated someone else abducted her while she walked the dog.
