“Jumping” Frog Habitat Proposed Again

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service yesterday for the second time proposed designating over four million acres as critical habitat for the threatened California red-legged frog.
The frog´s believed to have inspired Mark Twain´s fabled short story, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” If it sticks this time — it would be the largest such designation in California and one of the largest in the nation.
