Annual Park Passes To Cost More
Sponsored by:
Folks interested in purchasing annual passes to California´s state parks will pay more starting Thursday.
Right now, the passes sell for $67, but price increases will nearly double that to $110.
May First, prices go up again, to $115, and then up five dollars per month until July.
The price hikes are an effort to balance the 15-million dollar cut in the 2004-2005 budget of the state parks, which starts in July.
About 18-million dollars is expected to be generated by the changes.
Officials say if it weren´t for the increases, as many as a hundred state parks would have to close.
